ICE OUT

Updated: 2 days ago

Dear Community and C4J Audience,

We are proud to stand firmly with Montgomery County, PA, Philadelphia County PA and other counties in the US that are courageous enough to oust ICE from their jurisdictions. ICE policy is a legalized discrimination policies against Black and Brown immigrants in the United States. We need ICE OUT policies and legislations to help safeguard hard fought for and earned civil rights gains that the federal administration is going after with a sledgehammer with damaging impact on immigrants and our communities. ICE OUT policy is essential to safeguarding civil rights victories and ensuring that every family in the country feels a sense of welcome and security in accessing services.

Coalition4Justice congratulates Philadelphia City Council for passed “ICE OUT” legislation on April 23, 2026 – a big win for immigrant justice.

WHAT IS IN THE PHILADELPHIA CITY COUNCIL BILL:

The bill aims to safeguard immigrant communities from unwarranted harassment and to guarantee that all residents of Philadelphia are able to live with dignity and security.

-   Strengthen due process for immigrants in City custody.

-  Limit how and when local agencies can cooperate with federal immigration enforcement (ICE)

- Build trusting relationship between immigrant communities and city government institutions, including community policing departments

-   Reinforce Philadelphia’s commitment to being a welcoming and sanctuary city for all regardless of immigration status.

As racial injustice continues in our communities, state and across our nation, we, at Coalition4Justice, are committed to ensuring that our voices are heard and every community is protected as we continue to advocate for racial equity and social justice policies that make members of our communities feel welcome, safe and thriving. It is critically important that all immigrants know their rights. With increased footprint of ICE in Pennsylvania, know when ICE and/or border patrol shows up at your door, your workplace etc. Also be sure to know what to do when you are stopped by ICE staff or the police.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Councilmembers Rue Landau and Kendra Brooks for initiating this bill and their leadership and we thank all the advocates and Philadelphian residents who contributed to this immigration justice win.
