About the event
JILL DENNIN, B.A. was elected and served 8 years on the Boyertown, PA Area School Board, where she was an outspoken supporter of the LGBTQ community when the school district was sued over their bathroom policy. She also worked as a substitute teacher for 12 years. As such, Jill has first hand knowledge and experience with the intricacies and challenges of serving on a school board and in a community where equity, inclusion, and fairness are being put to the test.
During her talk, Jill will give an overview of the role of a school board director, explore the current school board curriculum debate, and discuss why school board elections matter for our democracy, equity, and justice.
